How long does it take to implement it?

Large enterprises may implement BSM solutions in the next 12 months in 2012. However, some differentiating factors like the current state of the service and the demands of the various business processes also determine the duration of the BSM solution being rolled out. The extent to which the existing system, application and network infrastructure interacts and integrates with BSM products or solutions, map capabilities to model and automate the different processes and the extent to which HP delivers solutions to its customer’s user experience demands all have an impact on the time to implement the solution successfully. As cloud and virtual environments are complex, the task is more difficult.

The ability to implement BSM solution also depends on HP’s ability to evaluate current and future market directions, level of innovation, customer needs and competitive forces. It is seen that an understanding of the customer needs and the efficient mapping of resources and solutions is necessary for implementing BSM solutions. The level of innovation, the strategies for marketing, sales and operations based on products and location along with the level of vertical integration of the products and services can impact implementation time. The weightage given to each of these parameters and its level of alignment with the company’s vision for providing the services is key to determining the time taken to implement the solution. It also learnt that HP along with Oracle has limitations to their capabilities in providing fast response times with the use of BSM solutions as they need to depend on other vendors for deep diving and troubleshooting. This can be understood given HP’s acquisition of Autonomy and Vertica as Autonomy itself has extensively built up on acquisition strategy by acquiring search capabilities from many different vendors.
